"Fractured" is created from my hand painted silk organza. It's inspired by the Korean pojagi style of wrapping cloths, with seam that create compositional lines in the cloth. This piece started out very orderly, until we experienced a devastating ice storm, compounded by health issues with both myself and my spouse. Most people experience times when life can be very difficult, with nothing going right. Thus, I slashed this piece, so it would more accurately express the traumas we experienced. Like most people, I then repaired the damage. The resulting scars and distortions speak loudly about the difficult events we survived.

It is loosely attached to a large piece of sheer silk organza. The piece moves slightly with air currents. The sheer background helps bring one's attention to the art piece itself.
