"Organic Shapes I"

"Organic Shapes I" is a quilted wall hanging using hand stitching to enhance the delicate colors and wonderful swirling design. In the stitching, my mark making on this piece, I selected different color threads, and different thicknesses of the threads to enhance the color and value shifts in the silk. The resonance between the evocative stitching and the underlying design marries texture to design. The stitching enhances the organic flow of the color and design, thus the name for this series: Organic Shapes.

This piece was exhibited in the International Quilt Festival, in Houston, 2002. It was also in Lowell, MA, during the fiber festival week, at Art Quilts at the Whistler Museum of Art. It was selected for tour with Missouri Fiber Artists.
