"In Harms Way" reflects the rage and anguish I felt after the terrorists' attack on the US on September 11, 2001. Whenever people are in harms way, from man or nature, I worry about the innocents hurt simply by being there.

This piece was included in "From the Heart; America in Mourning" exhibit in Houston, 2001, and it has been published in a book by the same name.

I believe this is an important piece, for it is a visual reminder of danger that is there in this world; at the hands of terrorists, or from hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, tornados or other major natural events. The family in the center of the piece are trying their best to protect each other. Do they succeed? What do you think?

This piece hangs from a rod secreted in the back of the quilt. The wall hanging takes the same kind of care as does a painting. Dust lightly occasionally, and keep it out of direct sunlight. It will maintain a powerful reminder of the preciousness of life and family for a long time.
