"Facade X" is a fiber collage, using translucent and sheer fabrics, creating an ethereal piece of artwork for the wall. The hand stitching with thick threads creates artistic marks, much like drawing. I have included some ancient designs in the stitching. This piece seems to glow from within. I have emphasized the organic shapes that develop when one sheer piece of fabric overlays another. It has a dramatic presence in a room.

Although the fabrics in this collage are delicate, once they are stitched to the silk organza backing, it is quite resilient. It is strong, and will last for years with reasonable care. Shake it gently a couple of times a year, and hang it out of direct sunlight.
